"DON'T BE LOST" PUB CRAWL, SPONSORED BY THE ILLINOIS CRAFT BREWERS GUILD AND THE MAP ROOM

In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Chicago Beer Society's epic voyage by train to the 1993 AHA conference in Portland.

They made it! Chicago to Portland in only 3 days. Don't stand too close, though. They're a bit "gamey."

Participants were given 24 hour transit passes and a map, then were off from the hotel at 5:20-ish, as organizer Roger Deschner got stuck in horrendous Kennedy Expressway traffic after a big rainstorm. We used Chicago's convenient and famous "L" system to zoom past rush hour traffic and visited 3 GABF gold medal winning breweries and a world-renowned pub: Rock Bottom Chicago, Goose Island (Clybourn) Brewpub), Piece Brewery & Pizzeria, and the Map Room.

The initial stop was Rock Bottom Chicago, where we enjoyed a buffet dinner and a sampling of beers sponsored by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. From here, it was off via the CTA to Goose Island. Then we bounced around via the convenient shuttle trolleys to Piece and the Map Room, where light snacks were also provided.

The shuttles ran regularly between Goose, Piece, and the Map Room from around 9 pm - midnight. A chartered bus then returned to the hotel from the Map Room around 1 am. Thse who ran out of gas before then just boarded the CTA blue line train at Damen Avenue (around the corner from Piece). The Rosemont stop is within walking distance of the hotel.

The cost was $25 and sold out well in advance. Many people who missed the deadline for reservations also hit one or more of the stops on an alternate crawl.
